Optional Car Insurance Coverage for South Carolina Drivers
The required liability insurance provides no coverage for damages to your car in the event of an accident that’s your fault. Collision insurance is needed to pay for repairs to your vehicle. Comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car from non-traffic related sources such as windstorms, hail, fire, vandalism and theft. In the case of both collision coverage and comprehensive, deductible payments are required. You can select the deductible level – obviously, the lower deductible will raise your premium level.
You can also purchase medical coverage, which pays your immediate medical expenses regardless of who is at fault. Your health insurance may overlap with this coverage.
